Company not responsible for highway construction blacklisted

Kathmandu. The Public Procurement Monitoring Office has blacklisted six construction companies that did not work as per the agreement for the upgradation and construction of the Karnali Highway and the Nagma-Gamgadi road, including the road connecting Manang and Mustang via Jumla. Chief of the Road Division Office, Jumla, Shrawan Kumar Mahatara, said that six construction companies were blacklisted after the contractors who had signed an agreement with the Road Division for the construction of the highway from fiscal year 2075 to 2080 BS failed to complete the work on time.

Out of the three construction companies recommended by the Road Division as per Section 63 (1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063, ‘Hummar Construction Service Surkhet’ has been blacklisted for three years. A public notice was issued on Saturday that Dhruva Construction Service Birendranagar Surkhet has been blacklisted for two years and Avinash Construction Service Chhayanath Mugu for one year.

Similarly, Shankarmali Construction Service Kathmandu and Man Shahi Construction Service Kalikot have been blacklisted for three years each while Kashyap Construction Service has been blacklisted for two years, said Birendra Rawal, sub-engineer at the Road Division Office.

The Shankarmali Construction Service has been blacklisted for not completing the contract for the construction of the Nagma-Gamgadi road while the Kashyap Construction Service has not been able to complete the work as per the agreement for the construction of the road in Jumla-Manang-Mustang. Sub-Engineer Rawal said that the rest of the construction companies have been blacklisted for not completing the contract for the upgradation and construction of the road in Kalikot area under the Karnali Highway road section on time.

According to the Public Procurement Monitoring Office, the blacklisted companies will not be allowed to participate in any procurement activities of public bodies during the stipulated period.
