Kathmandu. Nepal’s position in the World Economic Freedom Report has declined. According to the World Economic Freedom: 2026 Annual Report released by the Samriddhi Foundation, Nepal has dropped one position.

According to the report, Nepal’s rank was ranked 89th out of 165 countries in 2025, which has dropped to 90 in 2026.

The report was published in collaboration with the Fraser Institute in Canada. Although Nepal’s position fell in 2026, there seems to be a significant improvement in the position after the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2019, Nepal was ranked 98, while in 2020, Nepal’s position was further reduced to 100.
