Kathmandu. The Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs (FNNTE) has urged all not to charge more than the fixed fare during the festive season. General Secretary of the Federation Deknath Gautam said that action would be taken against the vehicles charging more than the fare fixed by the government.
The government has decided to open the advance ticket booking for passenger vehicles across the country from October 7 for this year’s Dashain festival.
The Department of Transport Management, Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, Workers’ Union, Nepal Police Headquarters and Valley Traffic Police Office have decided to open ticket booking in advance in order to make the operation of passenger and cargo transport easier, systematic and safe.
The Federation has directed its chief and employees working at Gongabu Bus Park in Kathmandu in all seven provinces.
According to the federation, the employees deputed at the advance ticket booking counters will have to wear the prescribed uniform and identity card. Passengers should be treated politely and tickets should be provided in a smooth manner to ensure safe travel.
Trailers and other large vehicles will be banned on the Narayangadh-Kathmandu road from October 8 to November 24 to manage the Dashain crowd. According to the prevailing law, there will be no restriction on the movement of vehicles carrying foodstuffs, medicines, fruits and other essential goods.
Similarly, long and medium route permits have been opened for passenger vehicles across the country from Ghatasthapana to October 26. The Federation has stated that the ban on the operation of certain types of public vehicles will remain in place due to the special nature of the road.
The Department of Transport Management will mobilize a team with a ‘focal person’ to monitor and facilitate the passenger help desk set up at the major transit points of Kathmandu Valley. The federation has assigned responsibility in Gongabu Bus Park, Kalanki, Koteshwor, Gaushala and Chabahil.
Priority has been given to the fitness test of passenger vehicles. A technical staff will be deployed from the Vehicle Testing Office of the Department of Transport Management, Teku and arrangements will be made for free fitness test of vehicles at Gongabu Bus Park.
