Kathmandu. The process of integrating the information of the national registration into the citizen app has been initiated. Director General of the Department of Information Technology, Shree Chandra Sah, said that the process of linking birth registration, marriage registration, divorce registration and other registration information to the integrated system has begun.
He said that the initial process for the integration of these details has been started and preparations are being made to implement it within some time. After the data integration, the registration certificates like birth registration, marriage registration will also be available in the citizen app.
In recent years, the government has been intensifying the campaign to make citizen services available online with the goal of further strengthening digital governance. According to the Department, the personal details of the civil servants, admit cards of the Public Service Commission candidates and the ‘No Objection Certificate’ (NOC) required for foreign study can be obtained through the citizen app.
Similarly, the process has been started to provide the professional engineer certificate issued by the Council through the Nagarik App by signing an agreement with the Nepal Engineering Council.
According to the action plan of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, arrangements would be made to provide additional services in the Nagarik app and the target was to bring it into operation within 45 days. However, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dr Bikram Timilsina has directed the department to complete the works before the deadline. Showing special interest in taking this initiative forward, Minister Timilsina also directed to integrate additional services in the Nagarik app. As per the directive, the Department is coordinating with various agencies for the development and revision of the system.
This issue was also mentioned in point number 35 of the ‘100 Agenda on Governance Reforms’ approved by the cabinet meeting on March 26 with the goal of transparency, ease and digital access in public services. The facility of downloading Police Character Certificate (Police Clearance Report) through Nagarik App has come into operation. The addition of new services is expected to further strengthen the government’s objective of making Nagarik a ‘one-stop digital service platform’.
This step of providing service through digital medium is believed to provide relief to the customers from time, cost and procedural hassles and is also considered an important achievement towards making the government service delivery more transparent, effective and modern.
