Sunsari police arrest 120 people in search operation

Kathmandu. The District Police Office, Sunsari has arrested 120 people involved in the sale of drugs, consumption and hooliganism in the society in a span of 24 hours.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chandra Khadka, Information Officer of District Police Office, Sunsari, said that the operation was launched in coordination with various units under the District Police Office, Sunsari, with the objective of maintaining peace and security and controlling unwanted activities. According to him, the first phase was conducted from 6 pm to 6 am on April 22 and the second phase was conducted from 6 pm to 6 am on April 24.

Of those arrested from different places in Sunsari, 115 are men and five women. Of the arrested, 10 men and five women have been sent to a correctional centre. Similarly, 76 men have been handed over to their relatives for disturbing peace and creating ruckus in public places under the influence of alcohol, police said.

According to the police, a case has been registered against two men in the drug case and one is absconding. Further investigation is underway against 26 other men. During the operation, 26.56 grams of brown sugar and 44 pieces of narcotic tablets were seized. Information Officer Khadka said that such operations will be continued to control drugs and maintain peace and security.
