The arrestees have been identified as Norgen Moktan, 25, of Dolakha and Susmita Rasaili, 24, of Chaurideurali Rural Municipality-9 of Kavrepalanchowk.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Moktan had taken Rs 40 lakh on the pretext of sending him to Cambodia and Rs 30 lakh on the pretext of sending Rasaili to Canada. The victim had lodged a complaint with the police, saying that they were incommunicado after taking the money.

Superintendent of Police (SP) of the office, Sharat Kumar Thapa Chhetri, said that both of them were arrested on the basis of the complaint. Further investigation into the two is underway, police said.
