The price of diesel has increased by 66 percent and the price of petrol has increased by 40 percent in a month

Kathmandu. In the last one month, Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of petroleum products time and again with the consent of the government. Meanwhile, the corporation has increased the price of diesel by 66 percent and petrol by 40 percent.The war between the U. S.-Israel alliance and Iran started and and and had a direct impact on petroleum importing countries like Nepal ।

The corporation has decided to increase the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 30 per liter with the decision to increase the price of diesel and kerosene by Rs 30 per liter with effect from Thursday morning .This is an increase of 66.90 compared to March 15. The price of diesel was Rs 142 in March 14.

Meanwhile, the price of petrol has increased by almost 40 percent. The price of petrol has increased from Rs 157 till March 15 to Rs 219 now. Likewise, the price of aviation fuel (ATF) has been increased by Rs 256 per litre. Earlier, on April 2, the NOC had increased the price of aviation fuel by Rs 124 per liter to Rs 251 per liter.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has already adjusted the airfare due to the increase in the price of fuel . According to CAAN, passengers will now have to pay a maximum of Rs 11,016 for traveling on Kathmandu-Bhairahawa ( of the existing air routes. The fare for this route has been increased by Rs 2,535. Similarly, the highest price has been fixed at Rs 23,059 for the Kathmandu-Dhangadhi route. The fare has increased by Rs 5,435 compared to the previous time.

Similarly, the Department of Transport Management has increased the fare of passenger vehicles by 16.71 and the fare of goods vehicles operating on hilly roads by 21.68. Likewise, the fare for goods vehicles operating on the Terai route has been increased by 15.75 percent .

It is not that the government of Nepal has not given concession on petroleum products. Earlier, the government had reduced customs duty on petroleum products and infrastructure development tax by 50 percent. This means Rs 17 on petrol and Rs 12 on diesel. But the government has also been criticized by the general public for inadequate according to international practice.
