Kathmandu. Australia has banned Nepali gundruk, millet, soybean, buckwheat and maize. Australia has banned the import of these food items from Nepal for the time being.

Australia’s National Plant Protection Organisation (NSPO) has banned the food items exported from Nepal after insects were found in the food items exported from Nepal.

According to experts, the ban on Nepali products has been imposed due to the lack of technology for treatment in Nepal and the need to issue a certificate by sending the treatment to Kolkata to India.

Prakash Poudel, senior crop protection officer at the Plant Quarantine and Pesticide Management Center, said that this time the problem has arisen due to the tendency of making fake documents that thegoods have been treated in Kolkata and proving that the goods packed in plastic have been treated

Exports to Australia are currently at a standstill due to the ban on such food items. The stallion of exports has also increased the risk of drying up the source of foreign exchange earnings and disturbing the trade balance.
