Court remands businessmen Deepak Bhatta, Shulabh Agrawal in custody for 12 days

Kathmandu. The court has remanded businessman Deepak Bhatt a and Shulabh Agrawal in custody for 12 more days. The court has again extended the remand of those arrested for money laundering by 12 days for (money laundering andrelated offences. 

A division bench of Justices Hemanta Rawal and Dil liratna Shrestha and Bidur Koirala issued the verdict on Sunday. 

According to the court’s order, the court has extended the 12-day remand of the defendant Deepak Bhatta, for the fifth time.Similarly, in the case of another defendant Shulab Agarwal, the time limit has been extended for the sixth time by 12 (twelve) days. This deadline has been extended with effect from May 23, 2083.

This decision seems to have been taken in view of the recent amendment to the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2064 and the legal provisions made by the new ordinance. 

More time was sought as the preparation of the report of the government } of the lawyers, the prosecution work and the investigation of the related offences by the Central Bureau of Investigation were still pending.The joint investigation team is proceeding with the investigation considering the seriousness of the case and the process of collection of evidence . According to the Administrative Section of the Special Court, the order has been issued for the investigation of as per the sub-section (4) of Section 17 of the Act.
