School employees demand increase in facilities

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepal School Staff Council (NSC) has urged the government to reconsider increasing their perks and facilities in the budget presented by the government in the parliament for the coming fiscal year.

Issuing a press release on Sunday, the Council said that there is a need for clarity on salary, stability and social security of the school employees working in community schools in the budget.

A press release issued by Council Chairman Ganga Ram Tiwari and General Secretary Shantiram Yogi reads that although the Council has been meeting with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the leadership of various political parties, the ministers concerned and the high officials of the government from time to time to address the genuine demands of the school employees, their demands have not been addressed.

The council has urged the government to clearly address the demands of the school employees regarding salary, stability, social security and facilities in the process of discussion and approval of the budget.

Currently, there are 30,

346 staff in 27,010 schools across the country. Among them, 7,623 are school assistants and 22,723 are school assistants.
