Kathmandu. Rumpum noodles, which have been found to be substandard, are being sold openly. The rumpum produced by Asian Thai Foods, which has been certified sub-standard by the Department of Food and Quality Control under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies, is being sold in the market. 

Some time ago, the Department of Rumpum noodles of A/23C2 batch of {{} was tested and proved to be of substandard quality. 

After the food items were found to be substandard in the noodles, the Department had directed to immediately return all the noodles from the market and not sell them as per the provision of Section 38 (2) of the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081. 

However, despite the department’s explicit instructions to withdraw and not sell inedible rumpum from the market, rumpum noodles are being sold openly in the market. So much so that even the batch of rumpum that has been proven to be inedible is being sold in the market. 

Rumpum noodles have been found to be sold in spicy shops, highway hotels and villages, which have been proved to be inedible. The authorities concerned are oblivious to the fact that the rumpum which has been certified by the government itself is being sold openly. This is the reason why the rumpum, which was selling inedible items, has not returned noodles from the market in violation of the department’s directive.
