Kathmandu. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is ready to provide financial assistance worth USD 10 million for the rescue and relief of those affected by the floods in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on Wednesday morning.

In a meeting with Chief Executive Officer of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) Dr Dharma Raj Upreti at the NRA office on Sunday, the UAE team shared that they were ready to provide necessary equipment and assistance to the affected areas.

A team from UAE Aid had inquired from the NRA about the immediate need of materials in the flood-affected areas. During the meeting, the NRA Chief Minister informed that temporary bridges, water purification and hygiene materials, tents for large families, portable lights with charging facilities, portable generators, solar panels, satellite phones, walkie-keys and other materials were needed.

After NRA briefed about the priority and requirement of materials and equipment required in the flood-affected areas, the UAE team said that they were ready to provide support accordingly, said CEO Upreti.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Ahmad Al Mansouri, Director of International Assistance of UAE Aid, Mohammed Salem Al Shamsi, Aid and Stabilization Specialist, and Salem Hamed Al Nuaimi, Humanitarian Aid Response Coordinator. Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have long established diplomatic relations. The two countries have been collaborating in the areas of labor, trade, investment and humanitarian assistance.
