Kathmandu. More than 6,000 savers have demanded the return of Rs 4.77 billion to the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Cooperative Department. According to KMC Cooperatives Department, there has been a huge demand for the return of savings in recent period.
According to Dhruba Kumar Kafle, chief of the Cooperative Development Department, 6,300 savers have demanded the return of the mentioned savings amount on the basis of complaints received since April 2
. He said that the amount of money from one lakh to five lakh rupees is more than the savers claiming this demand.
Kafle said, “On an average, the number of savers who deposit 500 to 1,000 daily i. e. small amounts of money is very high.”
According to him, 78 percent of the complaints are of small savers.

KMC) on Monday and Tuesday repaid the savings amount of 34 savers of Buddha Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative Limited, said Kafle. Buddha Darshan Savings and Credit Cooperative, operated in KMC-6, has returned the amount to those who saved up to Rs 150,000 on that day.
According to the department, the cooperative is planning to refund the amount to the savers who save up to five lakh rupees within the next one month.
In case of big savers, KMC has coordinated with the Department of Cooperatives to remind the borrowers and return the savings to the savers.

Cooperative Department, the cooperative department has been facilitating both the process of repayment of savings and loan recovery. Regarding the facilitation process to be done for the return of the saved, Kafle said, “We will accept the application with demands. We try to negotiate and compromise between the directors of the organization and those demanding the return of savings. ‘
Kafle said that the department will try to resolve the issue if it is not resolved through ward level mediation.
He said that if the directors of the organization refuse to come in contact, they will also be recommended for action.
