- Praise Ghimire
I was born in a simple family in a mid-hill village. Where people are absorbed in labor as soon as the sun shines in the morning. The smoke from the stove in the evening gives the impression of a painter like a canvas. I was born in the same dust and soil where the Godavari flowers and the rice stalks bloom. Farming has become the main identity of the people here. The bell hanging from the neck of the cattle makes the twilight even more interesting here. Sweet songs echo in the weeds, and the birds rest on the trees. The village is also a place where small things are shared.
We also had a modest house. I still remember that house made of red clay. There was a wide courtyard in front of the house. In the rainy season, the water flowed, and in the winter, the fog covered the windows. To get to school, we had to walk through fields and fields. Drinking water from a well in the summer was a different feeling. During the rainy season, mud and rain used to fill the village. The weather was favorable for the people in the village. The past childhood in the village taught me many lessons in life. I have read the writings of writers, the soil teaches love. That is why the term ‘motherland’ came into vogue. Everyone loves the land of their birth.
I learned from the farmers of the village that hard work will definitely bear fruit. The farmers have planted seeds in the soil and have swayed the paddy flourishing. Soil is the basis of life here.
Grandma used to sit on the edge of the field and say, “Grandma, failure teaches a lesson. Don’t be afraid of failure. “
Our family was not very wealthy. But we were not in a position to go hungry. The story of most of the peasant families in the hills is the same. The lower middle class has its own kind of pain. We had limited resources and resources, and there was a shortage.
After passing SLC in the village, I came to the city.
Stepping into the city marked the beginning of a new chapter in my life. I was amazed at the wide streets, the bright lights, the large houses, and the crowds of thousands of students. The city taught me competition, the value of time and discipline. The city also suffered. I was not a “village girl” in the city.
When I saw my friends’ expensive dresses and shoes, I thought my clothes were ordinary. There are moments of crying alone in the room. There are also nights spent thinking about it. When I slept in the room with the lights off, I thought of the village square, I remembered my mother’s love. I used to say to myself, “One day I will be recognized in this city. “
My father was a politically conscious man, he used to say, “My daughters must study. That gave me the strength to move forward. The father’s sense of treating his children equally was very advanced.
Even now, some sweet memories come to my mind. When we were kids, we used to watch the clock bloom and use it as a tool to see time; The childlike surroundings of the village and the affectionate faces of my friends are still fresh in my mind. Today, time has taken me so far, and I still remember the flowers blooming in the courtyard with the fragrance of the village. I am also thinking of the Godavari and Sayapatri flowers blooming all over the courtyard.
When I think of those blue-purple flowers blooming in the courtyard, my mind automatically goes back to childhood. Even in this foreign land, purple flowers are blooming. I admire the beauty of these flowers, they remind me of my old days. I remember playing on the soil of that village, I remember the hurry to go to school, I remember the touch of my mother’s loving hands. Today, when I am in a foreign land, those moments of childhood have not blossomed here, but other flowers have blossomed to remind me of my past moments. When I look at those flowers, I feel homesick.
When I got a foreign employment opportunity, I had two things in my mind. A heart said that this is a golden opportunity to pay off the debt to the family and make life better. Another thought said, “How can I go to that foreign land, leaving the village square, the love of relatives, the company of friends and many memories here? I was caught between compulsion and desire. It was this compulsion that drove me to travel abroad. When I came abroad, I realized that I love my country and family only when I am far away. Walking on an unfamiliar road, I am reminded of the roads in the village and the fields. Even when I eat in the canteen, I am reminded of my mother’s hand-cooked potato, copper and bean vegetables. Even though I am far away, my mind is always connected to my own soil and culture. It was this memory that inspired me to work harder.
No matter what challenges you face in life, do not give up on your goals. I kept thinking that struggle makes a person strong, and patience opens the door to success. Tough times don’t always last, people need to have the courage to struggle. How many nights did I sleep tired while working abroad, how many times I dreamed of the village courtyard. He also dreamed of a beautiful future.
I knew that today’s struggle would be the achievement of tomorrow. Continuous hard work, honesty and positive thinking will definitely lead to success one day. Only a person who has experienced suffering and struggle can truly understand the meaning of success.
Ultimately, patience, struggle, and hope in life should never be abandoned. I say, let’s have the courage to turn challenges into opportunities and make our dreams come true.
I am an ordinary Nepali girl born in the soil of the village, having experience of the city and being refined abroad. I don’t have a great position or wealth, but I do have a love of the soil and experience of struggle. When I reach the pinnacle of success, I will not be the only one on that peak. Added to this will be the blessings of my village, the dreams of the city and the fruits of my sweat abroad. Don’t be discouraged, traveler! That’s what I say now.
When I reach the top, I will remember all my well-wishers.
The situation is far away.
