. The United States has banned the import of goods from Canada. U. S. President Donald Trump has banned alcohol, dairy products, and motorcycles from Canada.
In an executive order, Trump announced that Canada would impose a ban on new imports effective September 29, alleging that Canada discriminated against U. S. businesses.
The U. S. is said to have taken this step after Canada imposed retaliatory tariffs on U. S. goods. Meanwhile, Canadian Trade Minister Dominique LeBlanc called the move inappropriate.
He also said that he would take initiative to resolve the problem through dialogue with the United States. Currently, more than two-thirds of Canada’s total exports go to the United States. In 2025 alone, Canada exported $687 million worth of wine, $269 million worth of dairy products and motorcycles worth $90 million.
