Kathmandu. The ‘hooliganism’ in Nerude Mirmire Microfinance, formed after the merger of the erstwhile Nerude and Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha, is crossing the limit. After the merger, the dispute that started in the organization has reached its peak between the employees who were divided into two units (Nerude and Mirmire). Meanwhile, the Finance Concern has found evidence that women employees were manhandled in broad daylight in the name of protest.
Rupa Shrestha, the centre manager of the organization’s Katari branch in Koshi Province, was found manhandled by the agitating employees of Nerude. Shrestha is an employee of the former Mirmire Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha.
An employee of the organization said that the employees of Nerude, who had been agitating for various demands after the merger, manhandled Shrestha asking why he opened the office at a time when the agitation was going on. According to the staffer, Shrestha opened the office that day as per the circular issued by the organization’s head office.
When the office was being opened as per the instructions of the organization, suddenly the employees of Nerude came and said, “Why did you open the office? The victim’s family has accused him of assaulting her. According to the victim’s family, the organization did not show any interest towards the incident even after informing the top management of the organization about the incident with a video.
On the same day, Pashupati Chaudhary, the manager of the centre management at the Gonaha branch of Rupandehi, was locked up in the office for two hours by the agitating employees. Victim Pashupati Chaudhary has also filed an application seeking investigation into the incident and take necessary action. Chaudhary is also from Mirmire. According to the victim, the organization has not taken any action regarding the incident. The Mirmire Microfinance Employees Association has demanded investigation into the incident of misbehaving with female employees at Katari branch of Udayapur and Ganaha sub-branch of Rupandehi.
On the other hand, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the organization Bhojraj Basyal said that he was aware of the incident and the investigation was underway. “Now we have survived a major accident. Referring to the incident of assault on Nimish Acharya, CEO Basyal said, “Now our focus is on this big incident. We have sought an explanation from the concerned staff in this incident. After taking necessary action, we will investigate the incidents of women employees and take action against the culprits.
Similarly, a few days ago, Nimish Acharya, assistant of the organization’s Koshi Provincial Office, was beaten to death by the agitating employees by locking the door of the office and turning off the CCTV camera. Acharya is currently undergoing treatment and a search is on for the culprits, police said.
