Kathmandu. Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Chiribabu Maharjan, has demanded a change in the timing of the fiscal year. Speaking at a meeting of the Inter-Governmental Financial Council and Thematic Committee held at Singha Durbar on Thursday , he made the demand to the federal government.

He argued that it would be appropriate to change the time of the fiscal year so that the design of any project, estimate and tender should be called for and construction work can be carried out during the period of monsoon rains and before that. 

Mayor Maharjan also said that the government should work in such a way that there will be a drastic change in the development and construction work.Healso drew the attention of the federal government to make drastic changes in the Public Procurement Act 2063.

Pointing out that the Act is the main reason for the delay in the completion of any of the projects on time, Mayor Maharjan stressed that should be amended immediately and should be moved forward. Mayor Maharjan has made it clear that there is no situation to move ahead with the projects of national pride and there is a need to amend the existing laws to suit them.
