Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The mother’s face festival is celebrated every year on the occasion of Baisakh Krishna Paksha Aunsi to honour the mother who gave birth to her mother.

According to the scriptures, this festival is taken as a day to pay reverence, devotion, respect and respect to the mother who is considered to be greater than Upadhyaya (Pandit), Acharya and father and to seek blessings from her. It is customary for children to wake up early in the morning, take a bath and bless their mother by wearing nice clothes and eating delicious food. Those who do not have a mother remember the mother and the great and difficult deeds she has done by offering tarpan and pinda to the mother and feeding the priest with sidadan.

In the Sanatan Vedic scriptures, it is said that every man and woman should repay the debt of God, human debt and ancestor in life. In the Vedic Sanatan Dharma texts, the importance of mother and motherland has been shown that ‘Janani Janmabhumischa Swargadapi Gariyasi’ i. e. the mother who gave birth and the motherland are greater and love than heaven.

The importance of the mother is more than any other because she gives life to the child by holding her child in the womb for nine months. It is said in the scriptures that the importance of a mother is a thousand times more than that of a father. Because of this importance, the living mother is honored and made happy by giving her sweet food and good dress.

In the name of the deceased mother, tarpan, pind daan and sidadaan are performed with reverence and devotion. There is a scriptural belief that on the day of Baisakh Krishna Aunsi, the departed mother expects to bless the departed mother with happiness.

On the occasion, a fair has been organized at Matatirtha of Chandragiri municipality. Since early morning, devotees have come to Mata Tirtha to take bath and worship and pay homage to the mother. See the rest of the image:
