Kathmandu. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption case at the Special Court against five persons, including former member-secretaries of Surkhet Valley Town Development Committee, Birendranagar.
The Commission has filed a case against the then member secretary Tikaram Dhakal on the charge of misappropriating income amount from the bank without understanding the income from the rent.
Likewise, a claim has been filed against former member secretary Narahari Tiwari amounting to Rs 10,471,942. The anti-graft body has also sought Rs 72,78,110 against then Member Secretary Gehendra Bahadur Dangi and Rs 29 million 96 thousand 441 against Seema Kumari Chand Chhetri, wife of then Account Officer Hari Bahadur Chhetri.
According to CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Neupane, a claim has been filed against the then co-accountant Khadga Bahadur Rana amounting to Rs 29.47 million.
From the fiscal year 2076/77 to the fiscal year 2080/81, the income of Rs 41.8 million has been shown from the receipts of rent collection. Of them, only Rs 12,325,622 has been admitted to the banks, according to the CIAA’s study.
Likewise, an amount of Rs 294,78,681 was found to have been embezzled without depositing the bank. The commission had conducted an investigation on the basis of this. The CIAA clarified that a case has been filed against the accused as illegal activities were found during the investigation.
