Former managing director of Smart Telecom arrested

Kathmandu. Sarbesh Joshi, the then managing director of Smart Telecom, has been arrested. A team from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of Nepal Police arrested Joshi on the charge of trying to embezzle Smart Telecom.

Joshi was arrested from Khursanitar of Kathmandu-2 on the charge of cheating and criminal breach of trust.

Currently, Smart Telecom is closed and the Nepal Telecommunication Authority (NTA) has taken control of Telecom’s property. The license of Smart Telecom was canceled on April 17, 2080 as per the ‘Telecommunication Act, 2053’ after the license was not renewed as per the rules.

According to the CIB, Joshi was arrested after he was found to have been working with the intention of violating the government’s right to the property of Nepal Telecom.
