Kathmandu. The government has dissolved the Land Problems Resolution Commission. The government has scrapped the Land Commission through an ordinance designed to amend some Nepal Acts.
The ordinance has repealed sub-sections (3) of Section 52 (A) and sub-section (6) of Section 52 (B) of the Land Act. The ordinance has made a provision that a task force or committee can be formed instead of the commission.
With the government scrapping the Commission through an ordinance, the posts of the leaders of the commissions in all 77 districts have also been automatically scrapped.
The commission was formed by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in 2081 BS. However, the Sushila Karki-led interim government had scrapped the commission. However, after the Supreme Court’s mandamus, the government’s decision to dissolve the commission was stopped.
Following this, the government had filed a writ petition demanding review of the Supreme Court’s order. At present, the government has dissolved the commission through an ordinance.
