Govt to conduct supplementary exam preparation classes for non-graded SEE students

Kathmandu. Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Sasmit Pokharel, has said that supplementary examination preparation classes would be conducted for the ‘non-graded’ students in the Secondary Education Examination (SEE).

Speaking in the meeting of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Minister Pokharel said that the government’s commitment to make the examination results public within a month has been implemented.

According to the results published on Monday, 284,160 students have been graded and 65.98 percent have passed the examination. A total of 146,507 students have been ‘non-graded’. Non-graded students will take advantage of the grade increase (chance) exam.

On the occasion, Minister Pokharel said that all the infrastructures of the school would be restructured based on the fact that the detailed study of all the school buildings, playgrounds, teachers, employees, students and other structures would be completed.

In the meeting, the lawmakers suggested the government to make special arrangement for the education of children displaced from the squatters, to bring an education bill immediately, to establish a sports university and to arrange e-books for students.

Calling on the government to take immediate steps to stop the irregularities in the school lunch program and to address the problems of 17 different types of teachers, the lawmakers drew the attention of the government to revise the school curriculum for vocational and skill-based education.

Presenting the progress report of the Ministry of Education, it was stated that there are 232,105 teachers and employees in 27,000 community schools across the country.
