Artha Sarokar

Kathmandu. Residents of Kathmandu have started supporting the government’s move in search of a safer future, free from the risky life on the banks of the Bagmati and its tributaries. The people living in Balkhu and Banshighat areas of Kathmandu but do not own houses, land and ancestral property and have low income sources are busy recording their details at the Dasharath Stadium.

So far, 72 people have voluntarily reached the stadium in search of their safe management and registered their details, while hundreds are in line, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat. Similarly, a joint team of the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction, Kathmandu Valley Development Authority, High Powered Bagmati Civilization Integrated Development Committee and Kathmandu Metropolitan Police is collecting details about the role of guardians.

In addition, along with the collection of details, health check-up of the citizens and necessary psycho-counseling are being provided, which has helped to reduce their fear and instill confidence. Preparations have been made to take the people who have been living in insecure and difficult conditions for a long time to the ‘holding center’ after feeding them lunch with respectful behavior.

After collecting the details, they will be managed at Dhapakhel office in Lalitpur, Electricity Training Centre at Kharipati, Agriculture Development Bank Training Centre at Bode, Nagarkot Drinking Water Training Centre and Red Cross Building at Banepa, according to the Secretariat.
