Kathmandu. Baglung: The amount collected from the parking fee on the premises of the famous Kalika temple in Baglung is being spent in the education sector. The Kalika Bhagawati Guthi Management Committee has set up a revolving fund of four lakh rupees in two schools to spend the amount collected from the parking fee for the educational improvement of the school. A revolving fund of Rs ÷200,000 has been set up at Balmandir Primary School Baglung Municipality-2 and Ramrekha Primary School in Baglung Municipality-1 from January to April 2020, said Baglung Kalika Bhagawati Guthi Management Committee Chair Bhupendra Khadka.

According to him, a revolving fund has been set up in schools where children from poor and poor families study in order to spend the amount collected from the parking lot since January to improve the education of the school. “In the first phase, we have set up funds for two schools. The interest from the fund will be used to purchase educational materials for the students, and the amount collected from the parking fee will be increased to ÷four lakhs in the two schools. “The amount collected from the parking lot of the temple was earlier donated to the Manav Sewa Ashram and now the fund will be set up in community schools where children from poor families of the district study,” he said. ’

The committee has said it would establish the ‘Kalika Bhagawati Guthi revolving fund’ in additional community schools gradually on the basis of need. The fund will be used to provide scholarships to poor and meritorious students. The fund has been established with the objective of supporting the education sector as per the social responsibility of the temple.

Srijana Poudel, principal of Ramrekha Basic School, said that the establishment of the fund would provide some relief to the school. A total of 130 students including children from the marginalized Majhi community and students with disabilities are studying in the school.

He said that most of the students are from low-income families and they need help. He also urged the government to continue such cooperation in the days to come.

Chairman of the School Management Committee Bhupendra Bahadur KC said that the school has been managing the needs of students like uniform, lunch, bag and transportation with the help of various organizations.

According to the committee, the Kalika Temple collected Rs 400,000 from January 2082 to Baisakh 2083 after deducting the expenses of the employees deployed for parking management.

Although the parking fee is voluntary at present, motorbikes are usually charged from Rs 10 to Rs 50 for four-wheelers. He said that such revolving fund would be of significant help to the students who are willing to study despite their financial condition.
