Kathmandu. New Delhi: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Ravi Lamichhane, who is on a two-day visit to India, met External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Home Minister Amit Shah at the latter’s residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting held in New Delhi, Home Minister Shah congratulated Lamichhane for the success of the election of the RSP and extended best wishes to the new government for the success of the new government in Nepal.
The two sides expressed commitment to work together to further strengthen the special relations between India and Nepal, the Home Minister’s Office said in a statement posted on X.
After the meeting, Lamichhane also said that he had a positive discussion with Indian External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on strengthening Nepal-India relations. Discussions were held on development partnership and further consolidating the multi-dimensional relations between the two countries, he added.
On the occasion, Minister Jaishankar said that he had a pleasant meeting with Lamichhane and his delegation and discussed the issues of India-Nepal development partnership and people-to-people relations. He added that these relations would play an important role in advancing the development and prosperity of both the countries.
External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal described Lamichhane’s visit to India as a continuation of regular contacts between the political parties of the two countries. Stating that India and Nepal share a multi-dimensional partnership at government-to-government, people-to-people and cultural levels, he said such contacts would help further deepen the bilateral friendly relations.
