Kathmandu. The foundation stone for the construction of a building of Nepal-India Friendship Hospital has been completed at Chankheli Rural Municipality-2 of Humla district of Karnali Province on June 11, 2083.
The hospital building is funded by the Government of India. It is being built at a cost of Rs 14.8 crore. The High Impact Community Development Project will be implemented by Chankheli Rural Municipality of Humla.
The Chairperson of Chankheli Rural Municipality and other stakeholders appreciated the development support being provided by the Government of India and expressed the belief that the new structure will help improve access to health services in the rural municipality.
The Ambassador of India to Nepal, HE Naveen Srivastava, through a video message, extended best wishes to all stakeholders of the project. He reiterated the firm commitment of Government of India to work with the Government of Nepal and the people of Nepal for achieving shared development and prosperity.
Since its inception, nearly 600 projects have been implemented in all 7 provinces and 74 districts of Nepal. The Nepal-India Friendship Hospital Building Project is the third high impact community development project in Humla. Earlier, the Government of India had provided grant assistance for the construction of library building within the premises of Shree Saraswati Secondary School, Sarkegad and for the construction of laboratory and library building in Shree Mahadev Higher Secondary School, Chankheli-Darma. The Government of India also organized a study visit to India in July 2024 for a 10-member delegation comprising elected representatives of Chankheli, Sarkegad and Simkot Rural Municipalities of Humla district.
As close neighbours, India and Nepal enjoy extensive and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of High Impact Community Development projects reflects India’s continued support to strengthen Nepal’s efforts to advance development and development and prosperity in priority areas.
