. With the grant assistance provided by the Government of India, 8 new High Impact Community Development Project (HICDP) projects in education, health and agriculture sectors will be implemented in different provinces of Nepal.

A memorandum of understanding (

MoU) was signed between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Government of Nepal and the implementing agencies concerned at an estimated cost of Rs 803 million.

The project to be implemented as per the agreement will be implemented in Sunsari-based B. P. Likewise, the construction of an agriculture product collection and sales centre in Temkemaiyung rural municipality of Bhojpur, urban agriculture and livestock centre in Jwalamukhi rural municipality of Dhading, a new building of Belbari Multiple Campus in Morang, a 10-bed hospital in Dailekh, an agriculture promotion centre in Humla, a cold store in Syangja and a 15-bed hospital building in Barahakshetra area of Sunsari are also being constructed ।

All

these projects will be implemented through the local levels of the Government of Nepal and the institutions concerned.

The Government of

India has been providing significant support under the High Impact Community Development Project (HSCDP) in Nepal since 2003. A total of 605 projects, including 8 new projects, have been forwarded so far. Among them, 512 projects have already been completed while the rest are in various phases.

The completed projects focus on health, education, agriculture, drinking water, sanitation, infrastructure and public utilities.

According to the Indian Embassy, these projects are expected to contribute to the development of infrastructure at the local level, expand service access and improve the livelihood of the people. India is continuously supporting the development priorities of Government of Nepal through such community development projects.
