Lawmaker Burlakoti said they would prepare a financial proposal for the operation of Gorakhkali Rubber Industry soon. The Gorakhkali Rubber Industry was established on June 15, 2041 with the support of the Chinese government. The then King Birendra Shah had laid the foundation stone of the industry in 2042 BS. The factory had started commercial production in 2050 BS.
The Gorakh Bali Rubber Industry, which once met a major chunk of demand for tires and tubes in the domestic market, is spread over 670 ropanis of land. The government, citizens and various organizations had also invested in the industry.
Gorakhkali Rubber Industry, which has the capacity to produce around 88,000 tires annually, has been producing various types of tyres for trucks, jeeps, vans and cars. The products of the industry were sold through depots in major cities of the country.
The tires produced by the industry have been exported to India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka among other South Asian countries. The industry, which once catered to a large part of the domestic demand, was completely shut down from April 23, 2014. Its structures and machinery are in a state of disuse due to the closure for a long time. The state’s huge investment and physical infrastructure have been rendered useless in industries that have been closed for a long time.
