Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung, who reached Nijgadh of Bara to meet the victims of the meter badge trekking from Janakpur, has directed the security agencies to collect details of the victims and perpetrators. After listening to the complaints of the victims in Nijgadh, Home Minister Gurung directed to forward the process of collecting details from the same place.
Following the Home Minister’s directive, police have started collecting details of those involved in the meter interest scam.
After listening to the victims’ problems, Home Minister Gurung had discussed the situation with Prime Minister Balendra Shah over the phone. He said that after listening to the problems of the victims, he discussed the future course of action with the Prime Minister.
Home Minister Gurung listened to the victims for about 6 hours. Most of the victims complained that they could not get justice from the security agencies and the judiciary. Home Minister Gurung has expressed his commitment to formulate necessary acts and rules to address the problem of meter interest.
Talking briefly to media persons after meeting with the victims, Home Minister Gurung said that the process of providing justice to the victims has started. He added that further process would move ahead after the details are collected. After the meeting with the Home Minister, the meter interest victims have been stuck in Nijgadh.
The meter interest victims had set out on a foot march from Janakpur on July 25 saying that they did not get justice. They arrived in Nijgadh on Monday evening and were kept at the building of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Meanwhile, the Home Minister, who returned from Nijgadh after meeting with the victims, held discussions with the chiefs of the security bodies in the evening. It is learnt that he is holding discussions with security officials on the issue of meter interest and security sensitivities.
