Kathmandu. Nepal’s public debt has crossed Rs 29 trillion. The government’s outstanding debt has reached Rs 2,933.79 billion as of mid-April of the current fiscal year.
Out of this, internal debt is Rs 1,388.11 billion and external debt is Rs 1,545.67 billion. The government has borrowed Rs 348.15 billion in the last nine months from mid-July to mid-March alone.
According to the statistics of the Public Debt Management Office, the share of foreign debt in the total public debt of Nepal is 52.69 percent and the share of internal debt is 47.31 percent.
With this, the public loan has reached Rs 1,594 per share. This figure is calculated by dividing the total public debt by the population of Nepal .
